Early Years.
John Henry Bonham was born in Redditch, England, in 1948. He was a natural drummer, he never took any drum lesson. He started to play drums at the age of five, making a drum kit out of containers and coffee tins. His mother Joan gave him a snare drum at the age of ten, and he received a drum kit at the age of fifteen, a Premier Percussion kit.Career.
Bonham formed his first band, Terry Webb and the Spiders. It was at this time that Bonham decided to devote himself to music as a profession. He joined several bands little succesful bands, such as Blues Crawling King Snakes, where was singer Robert Plant. During this period, Bonham gained reputation as the noisiest drummer throughout England. On one occasion he was assked to leave the Birmingham Studio because he played too strong to be borne by owner who even told him that there would be no future for a drummer like him. Ten years later, the owner of the studies received a note which read "Thanks for the career advice..." being accompanied by a gold record of Led Zeppelin. Along with Robert Plant, Bonham played with some underground bands until Tim Rose formally invited him to be the drummer on tour of his bands.
